PICKUP AT AN AIRPORT

"Just a song before I go,
A lesson to be learned.
Travelling twice the speed of sound
It's easy to get burned.
Going through security
I held her for so long.
She finally looked at me with love,
Then she was gone.
-Crosby Stills & Nash"

She runs towards me
Arms outstretched
As in some sweet TV commerical
Or soap opera
That I'd love to record
So that
I might play it
Over and over
In slow motion.

That night it rained
And the dark clouds moved across the sky.
As she moved across my life
Casting a shadow
Over my melting heart.
But because of love
She embraced me tightly
In the cold rain
And her arms made me feel warm,
A warmth I miss.

My heart was filled with gratitude
Because she cared for me
As no one else had cared before.
We rode through the blinding rain
And I was blind
To the future,
A future without her.
