UNTANGLING

If I am Christ
Then you are Magdalene.
But I am Christ not yet resurrected
And you are Magdalene still possessed of seven devils.

And now I am despised and rejected by you.
Like one from whom you hide your face.
Shall I bear your iniquities?
For you have many in your heart.

Untangling,
You keep me tangled.
An asset in reserve
You hang me on a cross
Forever!

You pierce my side
With an opener
And drive nails
Into my heart with your deeds.
What need have you for Jesus
Or ANY messiah
When you have me to crucify?

You oppress me
But I do open my mouth;
Because
I am not a lamb led to the slaughter,
Nor a a sheep before its shearers.
I am not silent.

But after I have suffered,
I will see the light of life and be justified,
Long after you have fallen asleep.

When have I done you ill?
I loved you well
And long and best
Of ALL your past lovers.
Untangle me then
From you
So that I can rise up again.
