NIGHT ON SHIPPAN POINT

You and I,
Wrapped - in each other,
Over looking Long Island Sound.
The waves beating
Against the beaches of Shippan Point,
Like two hearts wrapped in a blanket.
The night air cold,
Like twenty toes cold - on the veranda,
Mere yards from the water's edge
At high tide!
Tide that rises like desire,
Desire we felt - for one another
Beneath the Connecticut sky
Bedecked with lights,
Burning happy memories into our minds.
Moments pass in the late night air
Till we, shivering with cold,
Desert Long Island Sound,
Flee inside,
Hurrying beneath the covers
Where we warm each other with kindness,
Loving,
And sleeping.
You and I,
Wrapped - in each other.
