Cindy told me that she had seen what must be the sleeper of the year, an overthetop cynical comedy called HORRIBLE BOSSES. After looking it up on the old trustworthy Internet and seeing some of the trailers, I decided to see it for myself.
This film is so devastatingly funny, it sends chills up your spine; ok, maybe just my spine.
Three friends each work for 3 sadistic, nasty, mean-spirited, and abusive bosses. Things become so drastic that the friends come to the conclusion that the only way to find relief is to kill their bosses. Of course, in this economy they just can't simply quit.
Traveling to the the worst and most dangerous bar in town, they encounter a self-styled "hitman" named Motherfucker Jones. MF turns out to be a "hitman advisor" rather than an actual hitman himself. He suggests to the three how to carry out the dirty deeds so our three hapless heros are on their own.
Things heat up as the friends become embroiled in in an overly elaborate scheme to "off the pigs" and barely escape arrest when the killings begin.
I won't be a spoiler. The movie is great fun and worth seeing if you want a good dirty laugh. :)
This is the second time I have seen Kevin Spacey play a horrible boss. The first was the 1994 classic "Swimming With Sharks" He is a wonderful actor who first enchanted me in THE USUAL SUSPECTS. To me, Kevin will always be KEYSER ZOSEY more than Bobby Darin
Jennifer Aniston will always be to me a beautiful, talented actress with a wide range. Seeing her as a meany, yet funny, sexually harrasing boss is terrific.
Goodness, I didn't even recognize Colin Farrell as one of the horrible bosses because of the makeup he had on.
The film mkers could not have chosen a better bad blackman than Jamie Foxx who pushes the stereotype of the ghetto thug to the limit. It's obvious that he was having fun playing the role.
Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis are almost after-thoughts as the three oppressed anti-heros when compared with Spacey, Anniston, Farrell, Foxx, and Donald Sutherland. They are effective but their roles could have been played by many other actors.
