A Book Review of Shlomoh Sherman’s book, “From Jesus to Judaism”

Over the past 1500 plus years, there have been many books written about the Jewish responses to Christian missionaries and their attempts to convert Jews to the Christian faith. Most of these publications provide very good responses and many deal with the differences of religious thought and perspectives while also showing “sentence to sentence” mistranslations made by Christians of the Jewish Bible (The Torah, the Writings and the Prophets, also referred to as the Tanach). These many published works show decisively that the differences between the Jewish Tanach and the Christian New Testament are real and there is no reconciliation between the two opposing views both in prophesy based upon sentences and the fundamental religious philosophies and ideologies. Christianity as a religion has a different practice and belief structure and is not the continuation of nor the replacement of Judaism and its precious G-d given Laws.

As a former anti-Christian missionary activist, I’ve studied many of these Jewish publications. When I was introduced to Shlomoh Sherman’s book, I was intrigued to read about his story and related to several of his personal experiences. Unlike many of the very important Jewish works that have been published, Shlomoh’s book is not a compendium of sentence-to-sentence differences between the Jewish and Christian doctrines. While his work does make references to many sentence and ideological differences that clearly point out the fallacies and inconsistencies of the Christian New Testament, Shlomoh’s personal journey also provides additional depth and valuable insights into missionary activities and some of their deceptions.

Nothing can replace the truth of G-d’s Torah and Shlomoh has made an important contribution providing some insights and knowledge about missionaries and to why we Jews do not accept the Christian New Testament as our Divine Doctrine. By sharing his experiences in his book “From Jesus to Judaism”, he has made an important contribution.
