August 10, 2024 A note on my relationship with the creators of MAD Magazine - mainly for Tom Smith. Al Feldstein invited me and my friend Norman to the EC offices where we met the crew. I was 15. We visited them several times and received free subscriptions to all their sci-fi and horror comic books. When MAD first came out, we also got a free subscription but that only lasted a year. The last time I visited EC was when I was 17 and I brought my girlfriend to show them I was growing up. I really should have contacted them in 1967 when Bill Gaines first became a hippy but he may not have wanted to hear from me. I don't know. These guys, Bill, and the artists were great. Feldstein was my favorite. Jonny Craig, Harvey Kurtzman, and the rest. All the wonderful memories that you inspired in me.
