Those who know me, know that I am a Bronx boy. I grew up in the Bronx when that Greatest Generation lived there and I was part of it. So I am always proud to let you know about famous people who were born, grew up, or moved to the Bronx.
Here goes:
Lindsay Lohan
Jennifer Lopez, Jenny from the Block
James Caan
Ellen Barkin
Billy Joel
Lauren Bacall - Lauren's first cousin was Shimon Peres, the former Prime Minister and President of Israel: yet Lauren was ashamed of being Jewish and asked her husband to bring up their children in his Episcopalian religion
Carl Reiner
Jerry Orbach - Jerry went to my junior high school, Herman Ridder, PS98 - he was a year ahead of me and zI used to see him when he was hanging out with his friends in Crotona Park
Robert Klein
Tony Curtis - Tony lived on Bryant Ave, a 15 minute walk from my home; he went to another JHS
Phil Spector
Vic Morrow
Chazz Palminteri
Bobby Darin
Roy Cohn
Al Pacino
Danny Aiello
Colon Powell - He sat in front of me in Home Room in my senior year in Morris High School- 1954
John F. Kennedy and his family lived in the Bronx for several years, moving from Massachusetts. This was when JFK was a teenager.
Lee Harvey Oswald lived in the Bronx on East 171 Street, not far from where I lived. In 1956, he and his mother were evicted from the apartment for bad behavior. Lee got hold of a BBgun and shot and killed the landlady's cat.
Jack Ruby, where were you when that cat needed you?
