Speaking of Books is a family business founded around 25 years ago by Jan Powling – Ellie’s mum. Many of the writers who joined in those early days are still part of the agency today, alongside newer voices who share the same commitment to substance, generosity and care. The agency has long been rooted in work with schools, and those values continue to shape everything we do.
In the early 1980s, I was asked to write book reviews on Jewish themes by Isaac Mozeson, reviewer for the Speaking Of Books group. Below are some of the reviews that I wrote.
Revolution In Judaea: Jesus and The Jewish Resistance) by Hyman Maccoby
The Jew And The Christian Missionary: A Jewish Response To Missionary Christianity by Gerald Sigal
Just Because They're Jewish by M. Hirsh Goldberg
Israel Observed: An Anatomy of the State By William Frankel
Adventures In Heresy By Samuel Meyer
On Being Hebrew And Christian by Shlomoh Sherman
