THE BIDEN-TRUMP DEBATE

My take on the Debate of June 27

3 minutes in and I'm looking at Biden, and he looks and sounds like a tired old man who needs to go to sleep. And the worst I expect out of him, he delivers.

He stammers, he doesn't look at the camera, he sounds awful. No matter that his speaking points are right on. His self-presentation takes away from those points. He tells us about what he has accomplished in 3 1/2 years, and it's impressive. He did well. Now it's time for him to be put out to pasture and to bring in a young stallion. Will he get off the throne? No! This hubris makes him more odious. He won't surrender power. Queen Elizabeth Biden. Ruth Bader Biden. I'm way older than he but I come off on camera looking much better.

And what about Huey Long Trump? He starts off well, not like the idiot we expect. That's only for the first few minutes. Then he becomes the Trump we know and love. Biden did a little lying but Trump's pants were on fire. Trump rounded on at least 2 questions put forth to him by the anchors.
1. How many brownies are you going to kick out of the country and
2. How really difficult are you going to make it for gals to get an abortion?

He won't answer and if I were he, I also wouldn't answer. What? In 60 seconds he is supposed to make statements about what he will do regarding immigration and unwanted pregnancy - statements that will haunt him during the rest of the campaign? In 2016, he already, under pressure, made some idiot remark that the woman who gets an abortion ought to be put in jail. It's hard for him to think clearly under pressure. But he didn't do as bad a job as everyone who doesn't like him thought he would.

There was one aspect of the debate that absolutely turned me off to both of them. Their dislike for each other that they made public. You are trying to be the leader of the free world. OK. You don't like your opponent. Showing the viewers of America and the world, including Putin, Xi, and Kim Jung, your visceral antipathy for your political opponent is not cool. It detracts from your image as a leader in control of your emotions.

This year we are given Sofie's Choice.
A man who shouldn't be president
and
A man who can't be president.

There are people who before the debate thought that maybe they won't vote - now they KNOW they won't vote.

Biden has lost many voters. Have they gone to Trump? Not necessarily. But they've gone away from a man who ought to retire. Only he won't. His own hubris is more important to him than the good of the country. And if and when Trump wins, and he just might, America will remember that Biden done it, like Hillary, the worst candidate the Dems allowed to confront Herr Trump.
