The Betrayal

She was his beloved friend
With whom he shared the cups
Of SHABBAT.
But the cups turned bitter
With the taste of gall and vinegar
Served to the Executed Man.

For 30 pieces of gold coin
She drove the nails
Deep into his heart
Then played her war game,
While making her bed
With the uncircumcised.

For her transgression
He was wounded.
He called to her
To tell her of his pain
And when he did,
He found
That he faced Incarceration.
And although
The jury of his peers
Declared him innocent
He descended into Hell
Three days.

He called upon his God
To let him know
Why he was forsaken.
The answer came,
A resounding silence.

On the third day
He resurrected,
A new creation.
Now he would let
No woman touch him
Unil his Ascent had been completed.

He ascended
To new heights
Of Healing and Understanding.

Depart from me,
He said to her.
For he never knew her.
He hungered.
She refused him bread.
He thirsted.
She denied him water.
He was cold and naked.
She withdrew
Her sheltering embrace
Of words.

And so he walked alone now
An unbridgable distance.
He who was resurrected
Knew that trust was gone,
And compassion dead,
And friendship traded
For 30 pieces of gold coin.

She played her war game,
While making her bed
In a future
Without him.
