The Husband - 2006

She painted him with
A Black Brush
Because he screamed.
But once he wept,
And while the tears fell
Her canvas was blank.
She tapped the brushes
In time with her Torture
Of Him;
A Metronome of Shame,
Because his timing
Was off.
Once he sinned
Against her,
But he atoned
Too late!
The paint dripped
Down the canvas.
She blackened
All Hope
For him,
The Father
Of her Forsaken Children,
Abandoned
For an Eastern Dream
Which she also painted
Into a Nightmare.
He screamed
In Pain
In Vain
After
He had wept
In vain,
Asking her to remain
In Vain.

She blackens
All Hope
For her men
And belies
Her very Name,
"Hope!"
